Daniel Fast – Week 2

1024 576 Admin

Family,

Blessings! As we begin our second week of the Daniel Fast I hope and pray that you are becoming more sensitive to the voice of the Father and the promptings of the Holy Spirit in your daily life.

Too often we compartmentalize our lives and create an unnecessary and dangerous divide between the sacred and the secular. During week two of our fast we want to intentionally begin to consider all of life as sacred and holy before the Lord.

This week invite the Holy Spirit to awaken you to his activity in every sphere and relationship in your life. This shift will allow you to see not only God’s activity in these areas, but also your God-ordained role and mission at home, in the community, on the job and in the Body of Christ.

How to Structure your day:

Morning

  • Begin your day in praise and worship
  • Read and meditate on God’s Word
  • Invite the Holy Spirit to work in you

Noon

  • Take a short prayer walk
  • Spend time in intercessory prayer for the theme of the day

Evening

  • Make time for an unhurried meeting with God where you “SEEK HIS FACE”
  • If others are fasting with you close the day with them in prayer – either in person or on the phone
  • Avoid television or any other distraction that may affect your spiritual focus

When possible, begin and end each day with your spouse, family or friend for a brief time of praise and thanksgiving to the Lord. Let gratitude and love guide your fasting and prayer.

Week 2: Prayer & Scripture Guide

January 16 – PRAY that we would have unity amid diversity at Abounding Grace loving those with whom we have nothing in common but the gospel of Jesus Christ. (Colossians 3:13-14; 1 Corinthians 1:10)

January 17 – PRAY that a culture of discipling & discipleship would form at Abounding Grace in which making disciples is viewed as an ordinary and necessary part of the Christian life. (2 Timothy 2:2; Titus 2:3)

January 18 – PRAY that our pastors and elders would use Scripture to train members to do the work of ministry. (Colossians 3:17-18; Colossians 4:2-4)

January 19 – PRAY that a hunger for studying the Bible, God’s Word would form among members so that they can guide and guard one another in it. (Matthew 4:4; Psalm 119:97-98, Psalm 119:105, Psalm 119:114)

January 20 – PRAY that transparent, meaningful relationships would become normal and remaining anonymous and distant strange. (Hebrews 10:24-25; Romans 12:10-13)

January 21 – PRAY for the preaching of God’s Word—that it would be biblically careful and Holy Spirit imbued. (Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 4:1-2)

January 22 – PRAY that our leaders would remain above reproach, kept from temptation, complacency, idols, and worldliness. (Galatians 6:9; James 1:12; James 3:1)

Bendiciones,

Pastor Lou
